Brera
Flos, 1992
Acid-etched blown glass, steel, plastic. Inspired by the ostrich egg, the symbol of the virginal birth in Piero della Francesca's painting The Madonna and Child with Federico da Montefeltro (c. 1475) that hangs in the Pinacoteca di Brera in Milan, the egg-shaped diffuser is split in two parts held together by a ring nut to provide cooling and bulb access. The series consists of a ceiling lamp suspended from a fine cable or attached to a ceiling plate, a wall sconce, a table lamp and a standard lamp available in three heights.
