Sanluca
Gavina, then Knoll International, from 1960-1969, then Bernini from 1990
Pressed metal frame for the original production, now with a bolted plywood frame, polyurethane foam padding, upholstered in either leather or fabric. With Pier Giacomo Castiglioni. The Sanluca's frame consists of seperate pieces bolted together to form a chair that looks both to the future and the past, with antecedents among eighteenth-century furniture and contemporary influences such as the artist Boccioni. The name of the chair comes from the San Luca portico in Bologna. The footrest was designed by Achille Castiglioni in 1991 as a complement to the new Bernini production.
